Understanding the metadata elements

Title

Title extracted from title page if cover and title page differ in wording or capitalization; subtitles included and denoted by colon

Subject

Denotes which of the 2 subjects (etiquette and housekeeping) the text covers, as well as the breadth of the coverage in 3 degrees, comprehensive, general, and specific. Comprehensive manuals are large (500+ page) books that are advertised as a home reference guide for all needs relating to the subject. General manuals are smaller, usually paperback and generally under 300 pages, and provide guidance on many common facets of the subject. Specific manuals focus on a designated element of the subject and their content is primarily regarding that element.

Description

More editorial context on the text; may include size, influence, provenance, or other similar contextual details

Creator

Author or editor of the text

Publisher

The company that published the text

Rights

Whether (and if so how) the text is in public domain

Format

Format of the text (book, textbook, pamphlet, booklet, etc). If the book is in the public domain and a PDF is available, "PDF" is listed as a format after the format of the print text
